Fire Chief Kevin Barbot

Kevin Barbot, his wife, and their three children have proudly called Southwest Florida home since 1994. With a passion for public service and emergency response, Chief Barbot began his firefighting career with the Punta Gorda Fire Department and Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District before joining the Sanibel Fire and Rescue District in 2010.
Chief Barbot holds a bachelor’s degree in Emergency Services Administration from Utah Valley University and maintains multiple state certifications, including Fire Officer, Fire Inspector, Fire Instructor, Health & Safety Officer, and Paramedic. Rising through the ranks as Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Fire Chief, he was appointed Fire Chief on October 11, 2022.
Under his leadership, Sanibel Fire has secured $17.5 million in state and federal funding, strengthening the district’s resiliency against natural disasters while maintaining exceptional public safety services. Committed to innovation, preparedness, and community resilience, Chief Barbot continues to lead with dedication and a vision for the future of emergency response on Sanibel Island.
